You really have to learn how to name things better. If you name something minestrone soup, it should have the taste and consistency of minestrone soup. Your hearty beef minestrone isn't even close! As a minestrone, I would have to give it a 6.5. The name conjures up expectations and one measures the quality based on those expectations. As I ate the soup, I began Arthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04191518215607822910awolinsky@3dwriting.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2388388944263821635.post-15339292171401423202008-01-23T12:12:00.001-05:002008-01-23T12:25:15.017-05:00It Tastes Like ChickenJill never signed up for a second round of Nutrisystem and we are just on a maintenance diet. Many of the first round foods are still sitting unopened, unappetizing, and uneaten in the pantry, but today I decided to try their Chicken Breast Patty. They provide oven and microwave instructions and suggest eating it on a whole grain roll. I got creative and put it on rye bread, added a slice of Arthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04191518215607822910awolinsky@3dwriting.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2388388944263821635.post-86712736195915895862007-11-11T17:26:00.001-05:002007-11-11T17:40:38.562-05:00Nutty DessertDespite the fact the we clearly indicated on our exchange form in bold letter, not to substitute anything that did not appear on the order form, but to simply add more of an ordered item, they sent five Chocolate Macadamia Nut Biscottis. Neither Jill nor I are Biscotti fans. Jill flat out refused to try it, but I figured if I dipped it in tea or coffee, it would be palletable. I was correct. Back SoonIf you read either of my other two blogs here at 3DWriting.com, you know that I've been out of town for since Sunday. As a result, I've been eating in Chicago, but I've been good. Ok, ok, I cheated a little bit with the hash browns for breakfast and a French Dip, but other than that it's been soup, salad and health bars.On the home front, or actually in MA where Jill is visiting our daughter Arthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04191518215607822910awolinsky@3dwriting.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2388388944263821635.post-34331446793328030252007-11-03T17:11:00.000-04:002007-11-03T17:38:16.311-04:00Yum-yum!Jill saw a commercial for Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers. It's a cool concept. The meal sits in a plastic steamer which is rests on top of a plastic bowl with liquid in the bottom. Everything is sealed with a clear plastic wrap cover. You pop it in the microwave that the meal steams. You don't even have to puncture the top. It's self venting. When it's ready you remove the top and dump the Arthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04191518215607822910awolinsky@3dwriting.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2388388944263821635.post-29897520978719851292007-11-03T14:26:00.000-04:002007-11-03T14:37:41.378-04:00Hold that Food!A few days ago we packed up all of the items Jill didn't want, selected other items in exchange, and shipped them back to Nutrisystem. We can hardly wait to see what happens with the exchange. Yesterday, I called and canceled the auto-shipment and thus our venture into the world of Nutrisystem comes to a close. There are still a few items she kept and will try and those reviews will be Arthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04191518215607822910awolinsky@3dwriting.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2388388944263821635.post-76888961120088975862007-10-26T21:47:00.000-04:002007-10-26T22:08:06.916-04:00Dinner as UsualAs usual, the Nutrisystem meal fall waaaaaaay short of looking anything like the package and pretty short on the taste evaluation. Jill gave the BBQ Sauce Over Beans and Rice a 4+ and added it to the list of items to make sure don't get sent with the next shipment.I had a Lean Cuisine Chicken Parmesan with Broccoli, Fettuccine Pasta and Apple Caramel Crisp. When I walked in the door, Jill greeted me with, "You have to try this and tell me if I'm being over critical, because I gave this a ZERO." Not being a big fan of whipped sweet potatoes and cheese in the first place, I was reluctant, but she insisted. No, it's a 7.The Nutrisystem Chicken and Pasta Parmesan was shaping up to be the usual five or six, because when Jill took her first taste, she said, "We're back to Chef Boyardee again." She quickly added, "But it's not that bad."As I got up to get some salad dressing she asked me to get the garlic powder. After a little salt and garlic powder she decided it was ok and actually gave it a seven. I had Lean Cuisine Deep Dish 3 Meat Pizza and Jill had Nutrisystem's Thin Crust Cheese Pizza. I popped mine into the over and four minutes later removed a pizza that looked and smelled great. It didn't quite live up to the picture on the box which obviously was cheese enhanced. However, the flavor left nothing to be desired. The Pot Roast with Gravy, Potatoes, and Carrots got a 5 and the Shrimp and Spaghetti in Garlic Lemon Sauce got a 7.I told Jill that she might be a bit harsh with her ratings. She's not a pot roast person. That was an item they sent that she didn't order. She gave this a 5Arthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04191518215607822910awolinsky@3dwriting.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2388388944263821635.post-1595045314783791852007-10-22T09:26:00.000-04:002007-10-22T16:46:05.287-04:00It Was a Good WeekWell, Jill might not have been overly enamored with some of the foods, but she and I both did loose two pounds the first week. One thing that upset her was the fact that the deal she signed up for came with two weeks of free food. Unfortunately, she didn't have any say in what that food would be. I guess they figured they would send things that she didn't order so that she would try them. WRONGArthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04191518215607822910awolinsky@3dwriting.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2388388944263821635.post-5678366971414014212007-10-21T12:38:00.000-04:002007-10-21T19:36:38.718-04:00Less than Stellar Entrees, but the Desserts SoaredLunch - Jill loves chicken cacciatore and it's one of her specialties. As a result it's going to be tough for her to give high grades to anyone else's recipe whether it be diet food or Italian restaurant. So it's no surprise that she gave the Nutrisystem Chicken and Pasta in Cacciatore Sauce a rating of 4 out of 10. She likes a sauce with some zest and garlic. This was distinctly lacking in Arthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04191518215607822910awolinsky@3dwriting.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2388388944263821635.post-28593398443021357092007-10-21T12:32:00.000-04:002007-10-21T12:35:26.154-04:00Jill's RejectsThe diets are underway. I started with Jill's Nutrisystem rejects of 40% Bran Flakes and Orange Cranberry Pastry. The bran flakes flavor compares well to commercial bran flakes, but can definitely benefit from a little Splenda and fruit. I think their sog quotient is a little be high. However, consuming the 1 oz serving size takes very little time and precludes it from getting too soggy, but Arthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04191518215607822910awolinsky@3dwriting.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2388388944263821635.post-1875735962001867912007-10-21T12:31:00.001-04:002007-10-21T12:31:27.814-04:00Nutrisystem ArrivesShortly after my shopping trip, Jill's Nutrisystem order arrived. One of the things the girls at curves warned Jill about was the fact that ALL of the plans make substitutions if they are out of stock on an item. While there were not an inordinate number of substitutions in this order, there were two major disappointments. The two dessert/snack items that she was most looking forward to were Arthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04191518215607822910awolinsky@3dwriting.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2388388944263821635.post-62627113504821796252007-10-21T12:29:00.000-04:002007-10-21T12:30:15.294-04:00The Diet Starts TodayJill has decided she is going on the Nutrisystem diet. The girls at Curves where Jill works out, seem to favor Nutrisytem over Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig. Earlier this week we went online to order a month's supply of Nutisystem food.Being the dutiful husband and having a few pounds I would like to shed, I've agreed to help her out by starting a diet of my own.
